Title: Kate Steinway
Post by: CWazyTom on December 05, 2016, 12:26:10 AM
One of ChloŽ's friends (and one of my friends) Kate Steinway has a video that's going viral right now:

730,000+ people reached and over 32K views in a matter of days!

Let's just say that's a LOT more hits than she normally gets.

Her and her friends do have even better videos floating around (their cover of Wonderful World is incredible), but this one is nice and it does do a decent job of showcasing Kate's voice.

Give her a listen if you haven't already and if anyone's interested, I can put together some of their other videos. Kate's really got an amazing voice and she's super-sweet.

I'm sure some of you know what it's like for really talented artists out there that never get luck and their talent goes unnoticed. So I normally wouldn't do this, but I think this is Kate's big chance and if you listen to her and like her, please help spread the word about her. I don't have anything to gain financially from this, but she's amazing and your support would mean the world to her and to me.  :D

2016 has been rough on a lot of people. My friend Kate had her heart broken just before Christmas when she and her husband decided to go their separate ways.  :'(

Going forward, she'll be Kate Steinway.

I think pretty much everyone here knows at this point knows how much Celtic Woman and ChloŽ mean to me. There are few other performers that affect me that much, but Kate is one of them. Her voice is gorgeous, she's a fantastic songwriter, and she's one of the sweetest people I know.

There's a special place in my heart for her friend ChloŽ Agnew as you can probably gather from my posts. I'm not sure that I've told anyone this before but if it weren't for Kate and her friends (Mary and Dani), I wouldn't have have met ChloŽ this year in August.

Although she sings mostly contemporary songs, Kate's classically trained. Here's one of her warm-ups from earlier this year:

If that doesn't blow you away, I don't know what will. Lol.

I'm so grateful to Kate and her friends for all their music this year, for being great friends to ChloŽ, and for being so nice to me.

I don't have the base of direct followers to make much a difference for her myself. Kate and her music mean a lot to me and it would mean the world to me if you would follow and support her too.

I'd be deeply grateful for any support you could offer, especially as she goes through this difficult time in her life.

Thank you.

Kate's classical voice is the kind of voice that can blow you away. It's really impressive!

Have a listen to this duet:

My friend Kate Steinway was on the news and got to perform one of her original songs, Tiny Home!

Here's the interview with Kate before she performed the song on TV:

I wish they would have done a bit better job keeping the shadows away from her face. Lol.

Here's her song, Tiny Home with a stunning backdrop:

She was really nervous and I'm sorry I couldn't be online to support her before the interview. Traveling without a SIM card and only having Wi-Fi back at the hotel had its consequences.

Anyways, she hid her nerves very well and did a wonderful job.

Her music is so uplifting and her voice... OMG I love it!

Here's a bonus song for you all! Kate joined Mary Bee and Dani W (who will be joining her very shortly on her tour of California), for a cover Marry You (Bruno Mars):

The harmony is soothing.

I've heard Kate and Mary Bee do quite a few good online shows together.

This one has some of the clearest audio I've heard from them. It's an hour long, but I think it'll be worth your while. The harmony on a few of the songs is really good. Castaway, which starts about 12m30s into the show, is one of my favourites.

Kate recently released her first studio EP, True North!

The CD comes in a very nice cardboard case.

There are 4 tracks on the EP:
1. Hurricane
2. Tiny Home
3. True North
4. Wayfaring Woman
5. Young Heroes

If you've had a chance to watch any of her online shows, you'll be familiar with at least a few of these original songs.

The opening track, Hurricane was released as a single recently (coincidentally, it was around the same time as Harvey struck, which made it a tiny bit awkward to promote for a while). I don't want to give away too much, but the hurricane is symbolic and you don't want to mess with one ;) It's a fun song.

Mary Bee sings backing vocals on Wayfaring Woman and Tiny Home. Kate does a bit of her own backing vocals as well. I believe Kate's harmonizer also gets used in a few places.

My two favourite tracks were Wayfaring Woman and Young Heroes. The backing does a good job of complimenting Kate. It's exceptionally effective in those two songs. Those songs also do the best job of showing off Kate's incredibly lovely voice. Young Heroes has a deeply soothing and ethereal sound.

The album has an overall country feel, but there's quite a bit of variety of sounds packed into the EP. The ukulele adds a bit of a warm and uplifting tropical feel. True North is in 6/8 time and has Celtic undertones. The song almost seems to dance along.

I enjoyed the lyrics and the tunes are catchy. My favourite part of the album, though, was Kate's voice. It's warm and absolutely gorgeous! Personally, I think it has the perfect amount of vibrato.

Kate is such a wonderful singer. I wouldn't know Kate if it wasn't for ChloŽ and I can't ever thank her enough for performing with Kate last year.

I really enjoyed Kate's debut EP!

I hope you'll have a chance to check it out too and support this amazing artist. <3

Kate was on LA Talk Radio this week!

Here's the link: (

- Kate comes on at the 10-minute mark and is the special guest for the rest of the show
- Talked about her Hawaii Tour in September with Mary and Dani
- Crossed paths with Jason Mraz multiple times ... met him and he watched one of their performances
- Turned down opportunity to perform a song on stage with him (Lucky)
- Played "Hurricane" from her new studio EP "True North"
- The process of transforming her original songs into studio productions, with a band and the backstory behind some of the songs
- Each of the songs have their own personality
- Played "Tiny Home" from her new studio EP "True North"
- Chatted about her CD release parties
- Note: The show's host worked with her on the album and they met at the Songwriting School of Los Angeles where he teaches
- She got a ukulele before she went on her 8 month backpacking adventure because it was fun and portable
- She doesn't travel around and perform with a band. She had to play for herself. So she took the time to learn ukulele.
- Getting over nerves
- Upcoming Christmas tour and appearance at Sundance
- Played part of "Wayfaring Woman"
- Played "Young Heroes"

If you're intersted in Kate's album or feel like spreading the word ( I'd really appreciate it ;) ), Kate's EP "True North" is available through her site!

Kate has a new YouTube URL:

It's the same channel and the old links should still take you to her channel, but the new one should be easier for people to find and remember.

Sadly, Kate didn't win. :(

But they invented a new category for her ("Best Self-Promotion"), so she definitely got their attention.

She's great on social media and really creative at getting her name out there, so I'm not surprised she's garnered some recognition for her work.

Thank you to everyone who voted, helped spread the word, or even showed Kate some support. It's all very much appreciated.

I know there's some very exciting times ahead for Kate and I'm proud to be a part of her adventure.
